Author, Blaine Taylor has managed to put together a compelling and objective narrative relating to this time in the companies history. In particular, it is the huge and previously unpublished photographic archive of Mercedes-Benz, which makes this book stand out for Third Reich historians and car buffs alike.
This archive originally had been assembled by Mercedes-Benz in 1940, and given to Hitler as a special presentation gift of over 50 albums. These albums were then found by the U.S. and brought to the states, where soon after, they were forgotten, until Taylor stumbled upon the treasure trove of automotive history.

'Today, given the prolific number of books covering virtually every aspect of motoring history, it is difficult to find a new publication offering a different dimension on what appears to be an exhausted subject: APEX OF GLORY, however achieves just that....Interestingly APEX OF GLORY ends its story of Daimler-Benz in 1955, which happened to be the start of my international motorcycling career. It was also the end of an era with the Daimler Benz Company withdrawing from racing.........This book relives both the glories and the tragedies of the Daimler-Benz company over seven turbulant decades, above all, for me in particular, it highlights why the term 'Silver Arrow' and the Mercedes 'star' were synonymous with success.
